A qualified health plan (QHP) is a major medical health insurance plan that covers all the mandatory benefits of the Affordable Care Act (ACA or “Obamacare”). A qualified health plan is also eligible to be purchased with an Obamacare subsidy, also known as a premium tax credit.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) reports that the average premium for an individual qualified health plan, purchased through government exchanges, is $346 per month. CMS did not publish data on premiums for family qualified health plans.
